John Perkins (Economic Hitman) Explains the World in Two Minutes - (Video)
The only thing he left out was that sometimes instead of assassinating somebody, corporations insist on an "election" that they can rig to install somebody who will obey the will of the corporations. This is more expensive than just killing somebody, but it has the advantage of sometimes fooling the citizens into thinking that they have a voice in what is happening to them.

Here's a much better video with Perkins.

It stopped playing for me about halfway through, so here's the YouTube link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S8mk_YIinic
In this video he does talk about "the visit" that all people who attain positions of power get, and "the question" they're asked, but in his book he says that it isn't always from an economic hit man, it can be from somebody who is a close friend or mentor--somebody they trust and respect who is more likely to influence them.
Incredible
The first link worked for me Folkie. What an impact this movie makes. I am crying.
